General Conference 2015!

Last Wednesday we headed off to San Antonio, TX, and after many plane delays, we arrived about 4am Thursday morning! :)

It was an awesome weekend....we saw people from around the world.  There were about 65,000 people there, and even more on Sabbath. It was truly an amazing experience to know that Adventists from around the world could gather and worship together, recount God's blessings, and hear mission stories from each division.

Here are some of the pictures I took:

Our first stop in San Antonio was a place to eat. This is what we found, and many more restaurants had something similar. The city was very welcoming.

The booths took up about 3 huge rooms. We spent a couple of days going through it.

The evening meetings were mission reports from each of the divisions. Then people from the division would dress in their traditional costume and come out on the stage. It was really fun to see all the different dress.

It was a blessing to meet those from other countries! I am so glad that we had the opportunity to go--I can't wait till the next one! :)

From the Sea--to the Mountains

It's been a little while since I posted anything, but some exciting things have happened since then. :)

One Sunday, we went to the beach with some friends. It was a fun, refreshing day.

Then, a week later, a group of us went backpacking!

We hiked 6 miles to our campsite :) We ended up hiking a total of 20 miles the whole weekend.

We had to hang our food at night because of bears.

The view from our campsite

On Sabbath, we did a day hike--up 3000 feet to the top of a mountain! We didn't follow a trail, but Ben took us through the woods where we caught a ridge and climbed to the top of the mountain.

The view was absolutely stunning

Kennedy Lake

While we were up there, we got caught in a thunderstorm with hail--very fun and adventurous. :) We set up a shelter, all squeezed under it, and ate our lunch of bean burritos.

The mountain we just climbed--I believe it is called Kennedy Peak (the actual peak we didn't climb, but the one just before)

This is Kennedy Peak--and even though it doesn't look that much higher, it is a whole 1000 feet more.

 My favorite part was climbing the mountain. The awesomeness of the views remind me of the song "How Great Thou Art." Here's part of the song that really went well with our day's hike:

O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed,

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Savior God to Thee;
How great Thou art, how great Thou Art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,

And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Now, we are off to the General Conference in San Antonio, TX!
